BLURB & TAGLINE SERVICE FAQs

What are your qualifications?
Experience. I’ve been in the publishing business for over a decade. In that time, I’ve formulated blurbs and taglines for not only my own books but I’ve helped dozens of other authors with theirs as well. Please feel free to peruse my catalog and decide for yourself if I have what it takes.

How does it work?
Following purchase of either service, you’ll be taken to a service form. There you can provide me with the information regarding your book that I’ll use to create your blurb and/or tagline for you.

How long does this take?
The turnaround time for a tagline alone is typically 3 business days. This gives me proper time to formulate and edit 1 to 3 workable taglines for your book. For a full blurb, please allow up to one business week.

Wait. 1 – 3 taglines?
Yes. Though not guaranteed as part of the service, oftentimes when coming up with tagline ideas I’ll end up refining them into multiple wordings, thoughts, or phrasings. If so, I’ll send those to you as well. My goal is to either furnish you with a tagline that’s usable right out of the box or give you enough variations on a theme to fit your personal vision.

What if I want both a blurb and a tagline?
Formulating a tagline for your book is included in the price of the blurb writing service.

Can I use this service for non-fiction titles?
No. Fiction and nonfiction each require their own unique take on matters. As I am a fiction writer myself, this service is primarily intended for works of fiction.

How long should a good blurb be?
There’s no hard and fast rule for this, but generally speaking you want to hook a prospective reader as quickly as possible while still giving them enough detail to whet their appetite. To that end, I typically aim for blurbs in the neighborhood of 150 words in length.

What about keywords?
Please list on the service form any keywords you’d like your title associated with. I will attempt, to the best of my ability, to incorporate some of them into the blurb I’m formulating for you. That said, I won’t stuff a marketing blurb with keywords that don’t fit either the flow or the narrative you’ve provided. My goal is to provide you with an effective hook to entice your readers, not cram as many buzzwords as possible into it.

What’s your refund policy?
If, after working with the information you’ve provided me, I can’t come up with either a blurb or tagline, depending on the service, that I consider satisfactory (at my discretion), I’ll provide you with a full refund. Otherwise, both of these services are non-refundable once the finished marketing materials are provided to you.

How much information should I provide on the form
As much as you can. The more detail you give me, the better chance I have of coming up with something that’s both unique and fits your story. That said, I’ll reach out if I have any questions or need further clarification to what you’ve provided.

Speaking of it being unique…
I will make every effort to construct a narrative that’s unique to your story. That said, with the number of books currently for sale, not to mention however many authors might be writing in the same genre, it’s difficult to guarantee absolute market uniqueness – especially with regard to taglines. However, the more details you can provide me, the better those odds will be.

Please Note: The tagline service isn’t for market comparisons to either existing works or authors. What I strive for are one-two lines meant to be indicative of your story. My goal is to provide you with something along the lines of: “In the caverns of eternal darkness, one brave girl will light the way”, rather than a generic, “If you liked Harry Potter, you’ll love *My Book Title*” comparison.
